Riesling
Although not always the most popular grape, there’s no doubt that Riesling makes some of the world’s finest white wines. In the 1800s, the top Mosel Rieslings used to command higher prices than First Growth Bordeaux, but these days most Rieslings are under-priced relative to their quality and longevity. Riesling drinkers love the way the grape conveys its vineyard so well as well as its versatility – it can be anything from bone dry (like the best South Australian Rieslings) to the lusciously sweet TBA (Trockenbeerenauslese) Rieslings of the Mosel in Germany, which are literally quite a mouthful!
